The viewer is being gradually weened into the world of GitS:SAC where everything somehow relates back to the concept of ghosts and shells, stand alones and complexes, and other such complicated futuristic things.

I was a bit alarmed at the beginning of this episode, which features women who appear to be committing suicide. But then you find out they are actually androids, so it's ok. Or is it?
